Privacy Policy

Version dated 16 October 2026

This policy explains what A Good Service collects, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and how to have it corrected or removed. It covers our website, the web app, and the companion app for managers and their team members.

We follow the Australian Privacy Principles. We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for advertising.

1. Who we are

A Good Service is run by Harriot Berry, ABN 18 545 751 699, based in New South Wales, Australia. For anything to do with privacy, email hello@agoodservice.com.

2. What we collect

Managers who sign up:

  • Name, business email, mobile number, job title, company or venue name, country and postcode.
  • A password, which is stored only in a scrambled form by our login provider, and the times you log in.

About the venue:

  • The venue's name, suburb and map location, which we use to show the weather for the shift.
  • Briefing templates, briefings, quiz questions, notes, specials and photos of dishes, and who each briefing was sent to.

Staff, added by their venue:

  • Name, mobile number and, if the manager sets one, the section they work.
  • When they open and confirm a briefing, their answers to the question at the end, and their quiz answers and scores.
  • Break times, if a manager records them.

Rosters and bookings:

  • Roster photos and bookings screenshots a manager uploads so the app can read the names, shift times, tables and requests out of them.
  • If the venue connects its rostering system, the roster data we pull (staff names and shift times) and the connection token that lets us do so.
  • Reservation notes can include guest names, party sizes, occasions and requests such as allergies. We hold these only inside the briefing the venue writes.

Payment:

  • Subscription and trial status, and a customer reference from Stripe. Card details go straight to Stripe and never reach us.

Technical:

  • The kind of device and browser you use, your IP address, and error reports when something goes wrong.
  • Cookies that keep you logged in and remember which venue you are looking at. We use no advertising cookies or trackers.

3. Why we use it

To run the service: build and send briefings, text the personal links, show managers who has opened and confirmed, mark quiz answers, and show the venue screen.

To read rosters and bookings screenshots into a briefing when a manager asks. To show the weather for the venue's suburb. To take payment and manage the trial. To answer support requests. To keep the service secure and find and fix faults. To meet our legal obligations.

We may look at usage in aggregate, with no one identified, to understand how the product is used and make it better.

4. Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the services we rely on to run A Good Service, and only as much as each one needs:

  • Our database and login provider, which stores data in Sydney, Australia.
  • Our hosting provider, which runs the app and website from Sydney and holds briefing links and live read receipts for a short time.
  • An Australian text-message provider, which receives the staff member's mobile number and the text of the message.
  • Stripe, which handles payment and receives the manager's name, email and card details.
  • An email delivery service, which sends our account emails, such as password resets.
  • An AI service in the United States, which receives a roster photo or bookings screenshot when a manager asks the app to read it, and returns the text. We do not keep the image after that, and the provider does not use it to train its models.
  • Your rostering system, only if your venue connects it, so we can pull your roster.
  • An error-monitoring service in the United States, which receives technical details when something breaks, and may include the email of the logged-in manager.
  • Our email provider, which stores anything you send to hello@agoodservice.com.

Some of these providers are in the United States. We choose providers with strong security and privacy commitments, and we send them only what the task needs.

We will also share information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.

5. Staff, and the venue's role

Venues add their own staff to the service. The venue decides who is added, what is sent to them, and when they are removed, and is responsible for having permission to share staff numbers with us. We handle staff details on the venue's instructions.

If you use the A Good Service app as a team member, you can sign in with your mobile number, and we text that number a short code to check it is yours. When you turn on notifications in the app, we store the token your phone gives us so we can send you your briefings, and we delete it if a notification is refused or you sign out.

If you are a staff member and want your details corrected or removed, ask your manager first. If that does not work, email us and we will sort it out with the venue, or remove you ourselves.

The service is for managers who are 18 or over. Staff of any working age may receive briefings from their employer through it.

6. How long we keep it

  • Briefing links and live read receipts: 72 hours, then the link stops working and the receipt is cleared.
  • Briefings, quizzes, staff lists and send history: for as long as the venue has an account.
  • When a venue is deleted: its staff list, briefings, quizzes, photos and settings are removed straight away, and the record of what was sent is cleared within seven days.
  • When a subscription is cancelled: the venue and its data are kept for 90 days so it can be reactivated, then deleted as above. We email the venue's master admin a week before.
  • Invoices and payment records: seven years, as tax law requires.
  • Error reports: 90 days.
  • Emails to us: for as long as we need them to help you.

7. How we protect it

Everything travels over encrypted connections. Each venue's data is walled off from every other venue's in the database. Passwords are never stored in readable form. Only the people who need access to run the service have it. No system is perfectly secure, and if a data breach is ever likely to cause serious harm we will tell the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the law requires.

8. Your choices and rights

Managers can see and change their own details and their venue's data in the app, and a master admin can delete the venue from Settings. You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@agoodservice.com. We will reply within 30 days.

If you are not happy with how we have handled something, tell us first and we will do our best to fix it. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

9. Cookies and the app on your phone

Our website uses no cookies. The app uses a cookie to keep you logged in and one to remember your venue, and it stores a copy of its own screens on your device so it opens quickly and works when the connection drops. The companion app for managers and their team members does the same. None of this is used to track you elsewhere.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will email the venue's master admin before the change takes effect and update the date at the top of this page. The current version is always at www.agoodservice.com/privacy.
